Alberta Heritage Language School (HL School) Is a funded and accredited private school; it will focus on teaching Chinese Language and Culture for the students from Grade 10 to 12 following the Alberta Curriculum; two choices for the students to take courses: in-person and online. The student needs to finish minimum 125 instructional hours in a school year in order to get the 5 credit, which could be used in their application for universities when need it. According to the Alberta Education, the HL courses should not affect the student’s course load that they registered for at their primary school. Ms. Sandy Cai, the Principal, had been teaching Chinese Langue and Culture at several Senior and Junior High Schools as a permanent teacher in Alberta for about 30 years. Most teaching staff is certificated in Alberta, and all the others hold their Teacher’s Certificates from out of the province with rich teaching experience. The text books will be NI HAO,3rd Edition, from Elementary level to Advanced Level. Chinese AP courses will be provided. HSK (Han Yu Shui Ping Kao Shi) courses will be added in for the students who need this exam for further education in China. Summer Camps or Exchange Programs will be provided for the students. Challenge Exam(S) will be provided for the students who have advanced Chinese level and want to make up the credits for the Grade 10 or Grade 11, or want to take the challenge exams for Grade 10 to 12, three-year's credits at one time, please contact: [email protected] for details.

Self- Introduction
Born and grew up in Shanghai, China, I taught Shanghai Drama College for a few years. After moving to Canada, I have taught Chinese and English Bilingual program in Edmonton. After moving to Red Deer, I have been teaching Mandarin and Dance in Hunting Hills since 2000, the two courses I helped to set up and enjoy teaching immensely. I am also a certified Chinese AP instructor and a Ballet II certified teacher. I love to travel the world and have visited 20 countries. I have a Bachler of Arts from Beijing University and a Master Degree of Education from University of Alberta. In 2009, honorably received the Excellence in Teaching Award of Alberta. I am passionate about teaching and enjoy being with students. Nothing makes me happier than seeing the success of my students. I have led five the school trips to China. It was a delight to see former students studying in the different universities of China, speaking Chinese like a local. With a new title of second language specialist, I am also responsible for Intercultural Studies, International events and G12 International certificate.
